Photo-Voltaic (PV) Solar
Photovoltaic or solar electricity is the most common source of renewable power. PV modules are relatively easy to site, have long usable lifetimes, and require little maintenance. Proper site analysis and orientation is critical.  To perform well they need to be mounted (typically ground/pole or rooftop) so that they face within a few degrees of true south at an angle approximately equal to your site latitude.  Modules should not be shaded by anything other than clouds from 9 am to 3 pm standard time everyday of the year.  The size (in watts) of your PV array is determined by how many watt hours will be consumed in your home and the percentage of consumed power to be produced by the PV array. Look for a manufacturer, and a type of PV module that has proven itself over many years.  RES-TEC has excellent relationships with multiple long-term suppliers providing assurance of customer satisfaction to best meet the needs of the project.   Long-term warranty, power tolerance, operating characteristics, and cost are all considered in selecting the right module for your project.  The warranty should be minimum 25 years on PV modules.  High power tolerance modules typically provide more power compared to their nameplate, producing more watt-hours in a year.

RES-TEC will design and install a PV Solar system that meets your needs, handle any state and local permits that may be required in your area, and file for any available rebates or incentives.  Proceed to the following link for more information on RES-TEC PV Solar Systems.
Wind Turbines
If you have the right site, wind power can be a fantastic way to generate renewable power. Relatively constant, good speed wind is required for an efficient blade type (Horizontal Axis or HAWT) wind power installation. Newer Vertical Axis wind turbines (VAWT) are not as efficient as HAWT wind turbines in good, stable wind environments, however they operate very efficiently in turbulent, gusty wind conditions, typical of suburban and rural home and small business sites, and are much less costly, more environmentally friendly and safer.   Either way, monitoring and analysis of site specific wind conditions is critical.   RES-TEC, with state-of-the-art anemometers and data loggers can provide short and long term monitoring and site analysis capabilities to our customers, ensuring reliable estimates of actual power produced.

RES-TEC will design and install a wind power system that meets your needs, handle any state and local permits that may be required in your area, and file for any available rebates or incentives.  Proceed to the following link for more information on RES-TEC Wind Systems.
Micro-Hydro Turbines
If you have the necessary conditions for hydro power (decent, year-round running water, reasonable vertical drop (or head), hydro power is the most reliable way to generate continuous renewable power. Installation costs can be significantly higher, depending on site conditions, however, once installed, electricity generation is continuous, with little down time.

RES-TEC will design and install a micro-hydro system that meets your needs, handle any state and local permits that may be required in your area, and file for any available rebates or incentives.  Proceed to the following link for more information on RES-TEC Micro-Hydro Systems.
Generators
Generators are typically used as a backup energy source to charge your battery bank when your renewable charging sources are not keeping up with your watt hour consumption or when the grid goes down (power failure, rolling blackouts). They are a necessary evil for most independent power producers (off-grid systems) and as a low cost backup for grid-tied systems during power failures. Additionally, generators can be a relatively inexpensive way to limit the size and cost of your main power producing source (solar, wind, hydro, battery storage size) during the inevitable periods of cloudy, windless days or drought periods.   Generators are typically powered by gasoline, diesel, or natural gas/propane depending on size and customer requirements.  Generator systems can be fully automated or fully manual, to energize and provide power during low-solar or grid failure conditions.

RES-TEC can optimally size generator requirements for our customers reducing total system cost while providing peace of mind and security, knowing you will have electricity under most conditions. Proceed to the following link for more information on RES-TEC Generators.
Solar Thermal
Use of solar energy to heat domestic hot water and space is soaring along with the cost of fossil fuels. New, more efficient heating technology makes solar even more desirable, cost effective and environmentally friendly, especially under extreme, variable winter and summer conditions.  In many areas of the country, the typical homeowner spends over 60% of domestic energy use on heat and hot water.  RES-TEC recommends that all homeowners with a reasonable solar exposure, examine the possibility of supplementing their hot water and heating needs with solar thermal energy, reducing costs and dependence on fossil fuels.  This is especially true for new construction and with existing radiant floor heating, where many parts of the renewable energy system can be designed in, with relatively small incremental construction costs.   Typically, hot water is created in solar thermal modules of various types and efficiencies (similar in size and appearance to PV Modules).  Heat is transferred to a storage tank where it can be used as needed for domestic hot water and space heating needs.  Solar hot water used to be a summertime only solution for camps and vacation homes.  Today, with the correct site and detailed system analysis, anywhere from 10-80% of a typical homeowner’s need for domestic hot water and space heating can obtained with less than a 5 year investment payback period.   And with double digit increases in fossil fuel costs, the economics are getting better all the time.

RES-TEC will design and install a Solar Thermal system that meets your needs and handle any state and local permits that may be required in your area and file for any available rebates or incentives.  Proceed to the following link for more information on RES-TEC Thermal Systems.
